1. How do I log on to speak to a Cyber-Counsellor?
On our website (www.metoyou.org.sg), go the "Chat Login" box, type in any nickname you wish and the school password (given to you). You will be brought into the "Waiting Room" where you can select the cyber-counsellor you wish to chat with.
2. Can I use any nickname when I want to chat with a Cyber-Counsellor?
Yes. You are free to use any "Username" (ie. nickname) when you enter the chat. You DO NOT NEED to use your real name unless you wish to do so.
3. How do I know my password?
You will see metoyou posters around your school - toilets, classrooms or canteen. The metoyou crew will go down to your school every once in a while to remind you of the password. So take note when we are there!
4. Is the Cyber-Counselling Chat Confidential & Safe? Will any one know that I came online?
The cyber-counselling chat is CONFIDENTIAL as the cyber-counsellor will only know you by your nickname.
The cyber chat is also VERY SAFE as the cyber-counsellors are all trained for a period of time before they chat with you. The cyber-counsellor will NOT REVEAL anything you have shared anyone else, unless you are found to be in a situation where you may pose a danger to yourself.
5. How much should I tell the Cyber-Counsellor about myself when I log on to chat with the Cyber-Counsellor?
You are free to talk to the cyber-counsellor about yourself as long as you feel comfortable with it. The cyber-counsellor will not force you to reveal information which you are not comfortable to talk about.
6. What are the kinds of issues that I can talk about?
You can talk about issues ranging from school, friends, relationships, family, study stress or any issue that concerns you most and would like to share it with someone.
7. What is the operating hours of the chatroom?
We are open on weekday afternoons, from Mondays to Fridays, 2.30pm - 5.30pm.
8. If I have problems logging in, what should I do?
First, you'll need to check if your password is correct. Next, you'll need to check if you have logged in outside our operating hours. If you still have problems logging in, email us and let us know the problem and we'll get back to you soon.
9. If I need to speak to the cyber-counsellor but the chatroom is closed, what should I do?
You can let us know what is bothering you by sending us an email and we'll reply you asap. If there is a specific cyber-counsellor you'd like to speak to, do indicate on the email the cyber-counsellor's name.
10. Are the Cyber-Counsellors open enough to listen to what I want to talk about?
The cyber-counsellors are here to support you, regardless of what issues you are facing. Rest assured you will not be judged on what you say.
